Do you get ready or stay ready?

If I called you and said we are invited to an exclusive black tie formal event tonight, would you be ready with existing items from your closet?? “Stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready”

Read on to find out:

  • How to find the perfect outfit that makes you feel confident and comfortable all night.

  • Where to rent fashionable threads instead of spending

  • How to get paid to shop!

With gala and wedding season fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about affordable gala outfit ideas and what to wear to this year’s events. The year has barely begun, and I have already attended two galas! But we know how overwhelming it can be to find the perfect stylish and comfortable outfit. That’s why we’ve compiled some great tips and resources to help you dress to impress and feel confident all night.

If regularly attending galas is not your thing, or you want to avoid purchasing an outfit you will only wear once, consider rentals. Clothing rental has become more mainstream over the last decade with the rise of the sharing economy,

  1. Rent from Canadian stores: the clothing rental market is growing; it’s been estimated that by 2023 we’ll be spending almost $1.9 million USD globally on clothing rentals.

  1. Get fashionable outfits for less through online clothing wholesalers:

  • SHIEN: is one of the leading online stores boasting high-quality clothes and other fashionable accessories since 2008

  • Simons: Canadian sustainable gala fashion

  • Fashion Nova: Offers affordable options at great prices.

  • Rakuten: Think of it more like a virtual mall that pays you to shop at 750+ stores of YOUR choice, offering up to 30% CashBack deals!

When it comes to dressing for a gala, comfort is key. Here are some tips to help you stay comfortable and stylish all night long:

  • Opt for breathable fabrics, like cotton or silk.

  • Wear shoes that you can comfortably walk and dance in.

  • Consider shapewear or undergarments that provide support without sacrificing comfort.

  • Choose outfits that allow for easy movements, like a flowy dress or a well-fitted suit. This is particularly important. One of the performers at Saturday’s gala struggled with her fitted mini-dress on stage throughout her entire performance. The constant wardrobe adjustments were a distraction from her exceptional talent. You want to be comfortable and confident in what you are wearing.

  • It sounds funny, but I recommend “test-driving” the outfit at home before you go out. Bend, sit, dance, whatever moves you think you must do to maneuver in that outfit!

Comfortable dress shoes are a wardrobe essential. Stylish options that prioritize both comfort and fashion are available:

· Classic pumps

· loafers, trendy mules, and

· ballet flats are available in comfortable options

Neutral colours like black, nude, and navy are always safe but don’t be afraid to experiment with bold colours or fun prints to add a pop of personality to your outfit.

I get it; some people are committed to their heels, no matter the personal sacrifice:

High heels are a stylish staple in any wardrobe. Most guests barely lasted in their heels at Saturday’s Black Diamond Ball, opting to change into flip-flops, and we sat for most of the night!

I quickly found out many did not modify their heels. Different insoles are available to help make high heels more comfortable and supportive.

  • When shopping for insoles for high heels, look for features like:

    • arch support,

    • cushioning,

    • shock absorption

    • thin profile (avoid bulk or additional pressure on your feet)

These features can help:

  • alleviate pressure on the feet

  • reduce fatigue, and

  • prevent foot pain and injury.

Insoles for high heels come in a range of styles and materials, including:

    • gel,

    • foam, and

    • leather.

Some insoles offer additional features like odour control, moisture-wicking, and anti-slip properties. With many options available, finding an insole that fits your needs and budget is easy.

Heel or shoe inserts are MUCH easier than ballerina-level shoe modifications:

Remember, you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort and vice versa.

  • Rent formal wear from local stores or purchase from online clothing wholesalers.

  • Opt for breathable fabrics, comfortable shoes, and outfits that allow for easy movement.

  • Feel confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing.
