Midlife Crisis or Midlife crossroad?
Read on to learn about the importance of:
Finding purpose in your work,
Setting realistic financial goals,
Prioritizing mental and physical well-being, and
Investing in experiences that will bring you joy and fulfillment.
Remember, success is not just about money or status but about finding balance and happiness in all aspects of your life.
It is likely fair to say that many are not okay after the pandemic. The pandemic forced us to re-evaluate our values, work-life balance, and relationships, and one thing it may have precipitated is a quarter or midlife crisis.
Sure, there is no manual to life. Still, for midlife millennials, "The road map of life has disintegrated. "The guidebook that told us what to do at 25 or 35 has completely faded."
Unfortunately, millennials can't do the midlife crisis like our parents or grandparents did. You mean we can't just leave our families, student loans, rent and inflation in the dust or buy a timeshare in Tahiti? No, because we don't have enough money. Studies show that those born from 1981 to 1996 earn 20% less than baby boomers did at our age; yes, let that sink in, and our assets average $162,000, versus $198,000 for Generation X at the same period."*

Not only that, we have been dubbed the Burnout Generation. As of February 2021, 42% of millennials said they were burnt out.
So how can we navigate this time of our lives?
We can approach midlife crises with new perspectives, finding success and fulfillment in our careers and personal lives by:
Rethinking and prioritizing our values
Embracing new technologies (AI and chatgpt, anyone?)
Relocating for better cost of living, life-work balance or exploring remote work
Staying curious about the world
Building solid support networks *
Being proactive in your personal and professional growth
Staying curious about the world
